Suggest a Purchase & Interlibrary Loan

Not finding what you're looking for? We can help! If we don't currently own what you're looking for, we may purchase it for the collection on your recommendation. For older or academic titles, we can sometimes borrow what you need through an interlibrary loan.

Suggest a Purchase

For newer titles, log into your account to suggest items you want to check out, up to eight titles per month. View requests and updates right from your account, and if your request is approved, we will place it on hold for you. Suggest a purchase is perfect for items that are:

  • Already published
  • Five years old or newer

  • To make a purchase suggestion, you must be logged in. Patrons are welcome to make up to 8 purchase suggestions a month.

    1. Log into your library card account.
    2. In your My Library Dashboard menu, select Submit a Suggestion and then click Add Suggestion located at the top right.
    3. Enter a title, author, performer or director name as well as the publication year. Ensure that recommendations have been published within the last five years. If it was published more than five years ago, please request an Interlibrary Loan.
    4. Complete the required fields. If you’re unsure of any information, please provide your best guess. If matches are found in our catalog for the title you suggest, they will be listed. If none of the listed materials is the item you would like to suggest, select Submit Anyway. If no match is found, select Submit.
    5. View your suggestions and status updates in your account on My Library Dashboard by selecting Suggested this Month from the left menu. You can also submit purchase requests from your dashboard by clicking Submit a Suggestion.

  • You can let us know you are interested in downloadable ebook and audiobook titles not yet in the collection by using Notify Me tags on the Libby app or website.

    • Because some libraries charge for lending, we may contact you to ask if you would like to pay their lending fee to borrow the item.
    • The same item cannot be requested within the same 12-month period.
    • If your interlibrary loan item is lost or damaged, replacement fees billed to the Library by the original lending library will be passed on to your account.
    • Replacement fees that have been paid to our lenders for long-overdue/considered lost items will not be waived if items are later returned.
    • An interlibrary loan will not be issued if you have overdue interlibrary loan materials on your account.
    • Interlibrary loan periods are usually three weeks, with the ability to renew the item up to three times per item if approved by the lending library. Each renewal period is two weeks.
    • Renewals can be requested by emailing request@KRL.org or calling (360) 405-9109.
  • Complete the form online.

    • You must have an active Kitsap Regional Library card to make a request.
    • Requests are limited to items the Library does not already own.
    • Limit your suggestions to three items per week, one item per request form.
    • Requests can take several weeks to fulfill. If we can obtain the item, you'll see it as an active hold in your Library account.
    • If you provide an email address, we'll update you on requests we cannot fulfill.
